Legend has it that Charlie Chaplin once entered a Charlie Chaplin look-alike contest and came in 20th place. Yes, you read that right. The man who defined an era with his little tramp character couldn't convince a panel that he was, well, himself.
Just in case this is true, and hypothetically if Charlie Chaplin would have been a KGP Alum, he’d have been the best fit for our Encore. Because here there’s only one rule: not being yourself.
So, whether we are on stage pretending to be someone else or offstage pretending we have our lives together, we, a crazy and crazily over-the-top bunch of people embrace the absurdity with open arms and a lot of drama.
Because we believe and we ask you, at the end of the day, isn’t life just one big dramatics society? We all play our parts, HEAVILY improvise our lines, and hope that, like Chaplin, we find the humor in our own stories, even if we don’t always win first place.
STAGE PLAY
Stage plays, our forte, an art form we all truly love. From our freshers using it as their debut on stage to us bidding farewell to the graduating batch at Annuals, the journey is an emotional rollercoaster, both on and off stage.

Every year, the Encore freshers get an opportunity to put up a street play during SpringFest, IIT Kharagpur, and boy, do they do a good job at that. The endless number of winter nights they spend, deliberating and debating over the topics and the roles, is no joke.

This is where we truly express fully. An art form that knows no boundaries and with our endless imagination, we've sure put up some really loud performances. Well they were loud cause we left everyone clapping!

Each year, freshers at IIT Kharagpur debut in spectacular musicals under their governors' guidance. During SpringFest, these vibrant and captivating performances shine. The annual farewell musical, dedicated to the graduating batch, leaves lasting memories and sets the stage for the next generation.

Getting bored? Tired of rehearsing the same scene for hours, even though it's not you who's missing the cue? Ah, let's have a round of improv. The society houses a number of people who are experts at thinking on their feet, and what's more, they love tickling your funny bone!
